Cookies & Local Storage Policy

Short version: cliffego.com does not use cookies, and does not run any analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. It does use your browser's local storage for two small conveniences described below. Your display currency is worked out on your own device, with no lookup of your IP address or location. Everything here can be avoided or cleared.

1. We do not use cookies

This website does not set any cookies — not for essential functions, not for analytics, and not from any third party. There is nothing here to "accept" or "reject" via a cookie banner because no cookie is ever placed.

2. What we do store in your browser (local storage)

We use your browser's built-in local storage — a mechanism similar to cookies in that it keeps small pieces of information on your device, but distinct in that it is never automatically sent to our servers — for two purposes, both only on the Contact page:

Contact form draft. As you type into the contact form, your answers (name, organization, email, project type, current site, goal, budget, timeline) are periodically saved to your browser so that if you accidentally navigate away, your draft is waiting for you when you come back. This draft: stays on your device only; is never transmitted anywhere by this mechanism; expires automatically after 7 days; and is deleted immediately once you successfully submit the form.

Currency preference. If you manually choose a currency from the "Currency" selector next to the Budget field, we remember that choice in your browser so we don't have to ask again on your next visit.

3. How to clear this

Your saved draft and currency preference live entirely in your browser's local storage for this site. You can clear them at any time through your browser's site-data or privacy settings (searching your browser's help for "clear site data" will get you there), which removes both. Submitting the contact form successfully also clears the saved draft automatically.

4. Currency is detected on your device

If you haven't manually chosen a currency (§2), the Contact page reads your browser's timezone and language settings to default the Budget dropdown to a currency likely to be relevant to you (USD, GBP, EUR, or INR). This happens entirely in your browser: no request is made, and nothing is sent to us or to any third party.

You can override it at any time with the "Change" link beside the Budget field (see §2, "Currency preference").

5. Webfonts

Every page on this site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Loading a font this way involves your browser making a request to Google's servers, which — like any web request — includes your IP address as a normal part of how the request works. We do not control what Google does with that request beyond serving the font file.

6. No other tracking

We do not run analytics tools, advertising pixels, session-recording tools, chat widgets, or any other tracking technology on this website. If that changes in the future, we will update this page before any such tool goes live, and will seek your consent first where required by law.

7. Changes to this policy

We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever this page changes to reflect what the site actually does.
